നിലത്തു പടർന്നു വളരുന്ന ഒരു ചെടി. ഇലകൾ നാലെണ്ണം അടങ്ങുന്ന compound ആയി കാണപ്പെടുന്നു. അതിന് ഒരു പൂമ്പാറ്റയുടെ ആകൃതി ഉള്ളതിനാൽ പൂമ്പാറ്റച്ചെടി എന്ന് വിളിക്കുന്നു. പൂക്കൾ മഞ്ഞയാണ്.
